cover letter is considered tedious by many but it is something which has its great contribution in helping a candidate with handsome job opportunities. A cover letter can be very simple. It may not have very heavy words used in it but it should be a true picture of how you align your talents and skills with the job offered. For writing a cover letter it is very very important to first concentrate on your key skills and how they can be helpful in backing up the job that you have applied for.
A cover letter should be original and nothing should be copied or stolen from any source however you can always take idea by looking over thousands of samples. It should reflect your true being and the real you as it is all about you and by you, so interviewers keep high expectations from a cover letter.
Cover letters can be of three types viz.,
Application letter:- This is written in response of a job opening
Prospecting Letter:- This is written to inquire about possible positions if any.
Networking Letter:- This is a kind of information search during a job hunt
For a cover letter to be attractive, it is essential that it should exhibit clear purpose of it being proposed to an organization. It should clearly tell the purpose as well as the position you are seeking for. In simpler words a cover letter should be specifically written for a specific company and specific position. You should not write and send one single cover letter to two or more companies.
Effective cover letters explain the reasons for your interest in the specific organization and identify your most relevant skills or experiences (remember, relevance is determined by the employer's self-interest). They should express a high level of interest and knowledge about the position.
